If someone from India is going overseas for Study or Job purpose then some of their personal Documents including Educational and non Education Certificates must to be Attested from the designated Departments authorized by Government of India. Previously the Authentication process was centralized in Delhi. Around 2008 the process was dissolved and different State got different power. Simply, the Document will be Attested firstly from the respective State level Authentication/Attestation Department of the State of issue. In this concern it is necessary to remember that some State level Attestation Department can Attest both Educational and non Educational Certificates but some State has different Departments for different kind of Documents. As an Example Human Resource Department (HRD) or Higher Education Department (HED) are only eligible to Attest Educational Documents. On the other hand, General Administrative Department (GAD), Regional Attestation Center (RAC), Home Department, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) etc. (in some State these Department can Attest Educational Document Also).
